Dhurries (Flatweave Handcrafted Rugs)

Exclusively crafted by Jodhpur weavers, Dhurries or flatweave rugs are a traditional loom craft of Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Hundreds of years ago, when the tribal people of Mewar (southern Rajasthan region) used to seek shelter in temples, they started weaving rugs for their own use. The designs were heavily inspired by the intricately carved pillars of the Ranakpur Jain temples.

These flatweave rugs traditionally have simple geometric and floral patterns and the weavers often experiment with brave colour combinations.
